Our School

About our School

At Desert Canyon Elementary School, we take pride in fostering a learning environment that goes beyond academic achievement—it's about preparing our students to become global leaders.

With a strong emphasis on high achievement, dual language immersion in Mandarin, and a robust set of specials, Desert Canyon is dedicated to shaping young minds for success in an interconnected world.

About our Campus

Desert Canyon Elementary School's campus exudes natural beauty and blends seamlessly with its surroundings at the base of McDowell Mountain. The campus is home to dedicated teachers, involved parents, and enthusiastic students.

A sense of tranquility emanates from the outdoor setting, shaping the school's culture. The natural environment serves as a literal and metaphorical breath of fresh air, fostering well-being and creating a joyful atmosphere for students and staff.

Students at DCES benefit from spacious, shaded outdoor playground areas. These include the newly renovated covered basketball court with industrial fans, audio, and media features, and new restroom facilities.

DCES boasts a lively campus adorned with captivating murals and creatively designed chalkboards. The school hosts various student gardens, each with its distinct charm. These include the Peaceful Butterfly Garden, a collaboration with Desert Botanical Gardens; the Only One You Rock Garden, inspired by Linda Kranz's book, featuring hand-painted rocks representing belonging; and the Cubbie Garden, where students engage in planting and harvesting activities during recess. These gardens symbolize community pride and environmental stewardship at DCES.
